Odell Haggins is the only black coach on FSU's staff of nine full-time coaches. That, apparently, is about to change. Bowden said last week there will be changes - not just singular. And, on Friday, according to newspaper sources, Bowden said he plans to hire a black coach in that process.
Senior special-teams captain Mikhal Kornegay will not play in the Emerald Bowl after having an operation on his knee. The former Madison County athlete plays on each special-teams unit, and also saw significant time this season backing up Myron Rolle and Roger Williams when Darius McClure went down with a shoulder injury.
Lorenzo Booker who is from Ventura in California is expecting a big homecoming. Although San Francisco is close to a six-hour drive from Ventura, Booker said most of his relatives and friends will take advantage of their first chance to see him play for FSU. "It is like a five- or six-hour drive, but it beats a six-hour flight."
