Dexter Carter played for the San Francisco 49ers and the New York Jets in the National Football League for seven seasons from 1990 to 1996. He was a backup for most of his career on offense, but was used frequently as a returner on special teams.
Carter finished his 7 NFL seasons with 1,042 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns, along with 59 receptions for 652 yards and 2 touchdowns. On special teams, he returned 138 punts for 1,358 yards and 2 touchdowns, while also returning 250 kickoffs for 5,412 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Carter played college football for the Noles from 1986-1989. He rushed for 1,788 yards and also had 740 yards receiving with 21 TDs for the Seminoles. Carter was drafted in the first round in the 1990 NFL Draft.
