Trickett A Hard Nosed Coach

Rick Trickett has coached 21 players who have gone on to play in the NFL, 13 players who earned either first, second or freshmen All-America honors, and 17 All-SEC selections while an assistant at Mississippi State, Auburn and LSU. He coached Dan Mozes, the winner of the 2006 Remington Award given to the nation's top center, this past season at West Virginia after moving him to the new position three games into the 2005 season and has coached two Outland Trophy finalists.

Trickett came to West Virginia along with head coach Rich Rodriquez in 2001 for his second stint at West Virginia. Trickett coached the Mountaineer offensive line from 1976-77 and the WVU defensive line from 1978-79. Since he came to WVU in 2001, the Mountaineers have ranked among the nation's best in rushing offenses ranking 36th-2nd-13th-7th-4th-2nd in rushing offense since 2001 with this year's totals depending on the outcome of bowl games.

Trickett spent the 2000 season as assistant head coach and offensive line coach at LSU, where he tutored three All-SEC linemen, including All-America tackle Brandon Winey, for the Peach Bowl champions.

In 1999, Trickett was the head coach at Glenville State, where he led the Division II school to a 5-6 record. From 1993-98, he was offensive line coach at Auburn, where he coached three NFL first-round draft picks: Wayne Gandy, Willie Anderson and Victory Riley.

Prior to Auburn, Trickett was the offensive line coach at Mississippi State (1989-92). His resume also includes work as an assistant at Memphis (1986-88), New Mexico (1985), Southern Mississippi (1982-85), Southern Illinois (1980-81), Indiana, Pa. (1974-75) and Glenville (1973).

A Masontown, W.Va., native, Trickett received a bachelor's degree from Glenville in 1972, where he was an all-conference strong safety, and a master's from Indiana (Pa.) in 1975. Trickett, a decorated U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and his wife Tara Jo have three sons - Travis, Chance and Clint.

Trickett has signed a letter of agreement with FSU for a three-year contract with a base salary of $200,000 per year.
