ESPN.com and ESPN's Chris Mortensen report that Georgia Tech coach Chan Gailey, a onetime Steelers assistant coach, will interview Saturday with Pittsburgh management. Gailey will be the fifth, and likely final, candidate to meet with the Steelers' search committee.
The University of Miami is searching for an offensive coordinator with an expanded budget to woo candidates.
UM Athletic Director Paul Dee said Thursday that coach Randy Shannon's budget for assistant coaches' salaries has increased between 15 and 20 percent over last season.
Whether that will be enough to get a top coordinator to cure the Hurricanes' ailing offense still is unclear.
Kevin Rogers, the Minnesota Vikings' quarterbacks coach and the perceived front-runner for the UM job, told Shannon this week that he is taking himself out of consideration and will remain in the NFL.
Five Miami Hurricanes football players have been invited to participate in postseason all-star games this month to compete with and against the nation's top seniors.
Center Anthony Wollschlager will play in North-South All-Star Classic. Defensive end Baraka Atkins and running back Tyrone Moss will play in the East-West Shrine game. And defensive tackle Kareem Brown and safety Brandon Meriweather will play in the Senior Bowl.
