    FSU Recruit Prospect: Chad Jones

FSU is very serious about safety Chad Jones. So serious in fact that five coaches visited him on Monday after he had been in Tallahassee on a recruit visit this past weekend. The Baton Rouge, Louisiana native was visited in his home by five Seminole coaches including Bobby Bowden, Jimbo Fisher, Mickey Andrews, Lawrence Dawsey, and Odell Haggins. Talk about personal attention.

Resume: Jones transferred to Southern Lab when he had to evacuate from Hurricane Katrina and was a big splash for the "Kittens" as he rolled up 84 tackles, picked off four passes and earned first team all-state honors.

His team finished the season 11-3, with Jones credited for 138 tackles, 12 interceptions (six for touchdowns) and five fumbles caused. Offensively, he had 464 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Final senior season (11-3) stats: 138 interceptions/12 intererceptions (six for TDs)/5 fumbles caused; 464 yards rushing/12 TDs.

Coach's Comments: “Chad has good speed, a good nose for the ball, and he is very aggressive,” said Southern Lab head coach Michael Roach. “He may be a better outside linebacker but we keep him in the secondary because he runs better than any defensive back we have. He has all of the intangibles that you just can’t coach.”

Jones is nationally ranked #1 at his position. He has not made a verbal commitment to any school. His three top schools currently are LSU, USC, and FSU.
