Grobe Receives National Coach of the Year Award

Wake Forest's Jim Grobe has been chosen as the 2006 American Football Coaches Association National Coach of the Year. The winner is selected by the 10,000 members of the AFCA. The most recent winners of the Division I-A award include Joe Paterno of Penn State, Tommy Tuberville of Auburn, Pete Carroll of Southern California and Jim Tressel of Ohio State.

Georgia Tech linebacker Philip Wheeler confirmed Thursday that he will remain in school for his senior season rather than entering the NFL draft. "I have decided to finish school and play football another season for Georgia Tech," said the rising senior from Columbus, Ga.

As North Clayton safety Morgan Burnett made his commitment to Georgia Tech official, it was clear that nothing - not even the fact his brother, Cap Burnett Jr., played for Georgia - was going to change his mind.

"I just like the way Tech plays, and the coaches and players," said Burnett, whom the Yellow Jackets have recruited as a safety/defensive back even though he's also played wide receiver. "This is kind of a relief, and I'm just happy and looking forward to being a part of Georgia Tech."
