Now that Nick Saban has accepted the Bama head coaching position, the priority will be to put a coaching staff in place. This is especially critical due to the fact that college recruiting is in its final stage for 2007. National signing day is in February so Saban and Bama like FSU need to have coaches in place in order to get commitments from recruits. ESPN is speculating as has been reported on this blog days ago that Saban may be looking to hire his former assistant, Jimbo Fisher, as his offensive coordinator.
Needless to say, this could create problems for FSU and may jeopardize not only the Fisher hire but also the proposed Rick Trickett hire. FSU needs to act quickly to firm up its committments from any of the coaches that it has been in touch with regarding filling positions at FSU.
