Noles Have Nightmare Game As Canes Win In Tallahassee in 2007

The FSU-Miami game in 2007 could have been directed by Wes Craven. It was truly a nightmare for the Noles. It definitely was an early Halloween trick for the Noles who played Miami on October 20 in Tallahassee before almost 83,000 fans.

The Noles led by quarterback Xavier Lee got on the scoreboard first with a Cismesia 23 yard field goal. That was short lived as the Canes scored two touchdowns with the last as a result of an Antone Smith fumble. The Noles did score later on an Xavier Lee run that made the score 14-10 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter the Noles scored a touchdown and field goal and held the Canes to a field goal as the half ended 20-17 in the Noles's favor.

In the third quarter, the Noles kicked two field goals while the Canes added another TD to up the score to 26-24 at the end of the third quarter.

At the beginning of the fourth quarter, the Noles got on the board again with a Cismesia 46 yard field goal to put the Noles up 29-24. The Noles and Canes slugged it out until less than three minutes to go in the game when the Canes scored on a TD by their tight end. They missed the two point conversion attempt and the score was Miami 30 and the Noles 29.

There was enough time for the Noles to score as the Noles started their drive with a little over a minute left and at the FSU 29. The wheels then came off as Xavier Lee was sacked for a loss on the first play. On the second play of the drive, Lee fumbled and the Canes scored on the fumble recovery to increase their lead to 37-29. With one final drive, Lee had three incomplete passes as the Canes got the ball back with 29 seconds left in the game. The final score was Miami 37 and FSU 29.
