Hokies Lose Backup Safety For The Year

Virginia Tech has lost its backup free safety Lorenzo Williams with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. This happened in last night's practice and he will miss the rest of the season. The injury adds to a thin Tech defensive backfield which has already lost starting rover Davon Morgan to a season-ending injury

Coach Frank Beamer cannot be pleased with his kicking game. The Hokies rank 117th (out of 120 teams) in net punting and 112th in kickoff returns. They've had two punts blocked, one of which cost them the East Carolina game, and three punts returned for touchdowns - more than any team in America and more than any Tech team since the 1950s.In the loss to Boston College last Saturday, the Hokies had both a punt blocked and one returned for a score.
