As expected, Florida State senior Graham Gano won the nation's top honor for a placekicker when he won the Lou Groza Award Thursday night. Gano is the nation's top placekicker and his award marks the third time a Seminole has won the award. No other university has more than one Groza winner.
After coming back from an injury this season, Gano went on to make an FSU record 18 consecutive field goals including five straight attempts from 50 yards or more.
Gano has as many 50-yard field goals in his career as FSU's two-time Lou Groza Award winner Sebastian Janikowski and he is the only kicker in school history to convert over 90% of his field goals in a season.
