Florida State University senior linebacker has been named one of 15 semifinalists for the Bednarik Award which is presented to the nation's top defensive player. The Bednarik Award is presented by the Maxwell Football Club and was first presented in 1994 in honor of former Philadelphia Eagle standout Chuck Bednarik.
Davis is Florida State's defensive captain and team leader in tackles through seven games with 63. He has been ranked among the ACC leaders in tackles throughout the season and enters Saturday night's game against Maryland ranked second in the conference and 31st in the nation with a 9.0 tackles per game average. Davis recorded his season-high of 12 tackles in the Seminoles' victories over both Miami (Fla.) on Sept. 4 and Troy on Sept. 9.
