What They Are Saying The Day After FSU's Loss to Boston College

"A season that began with no excuses for Florida State has turned into one of no real hope.

A 24-19 loss Saturday to Boston College before an FSU crowd whose mood became as dark as their apparel has all but snuffed unranked FSU's chances to reach the ACC championship game or even a major bowl. The sellout crowd mostly clad in black watched an FSU team dressed all in black match Bowden's worst start since 1978. FSU opened that season with a 4-3 record."

"While the No. 22-ranked Eagles (6-1, 3-1) remain in contention for the Atlantic division title and a berth in the league championship game, the Seminoles (4-3, 2-3) find themselves in the strangest of territories. They are last in the division and have lost two league games at home. They were 55-2 at Doak in league play entering this season.

Not only is a Bowl Championship Series game all but out of the picture, the Seminoles are in danger of not playing in a traditional New Year’s Day bowl game for the first time since 1990."

"Gift-wrapped in black, Florida State forked over a victory - and quite possibly a season.

Boston College dashed the Seminoles' Atlantic Coast Conference title-defense hopes with a 24-19 victory Saturday afternoon, turning three FSU mistakes into 21 points.

On a day when FSU honored the Seminole Tribe of Florida by wearing the word "Unconquered" on the pant leg of its commemorative all-black uniforms, the mood suddenly turned somber during a 31-second stretch near the end of the first half."

"I don't think I've ever been 4-3, even in high school," said freshman tight end Caz Piurowski of Land O' Lakes. "Coming to Florida State, I didn't expect to be 4-3. I expected us to dominate like Florida State used to."

The only area FSU dominated in Saturday was making mistakes, two of which led to Boston College touchdowns within 31 seconds of each other right before halftime. Another key mishap - Piurowski's fumble deep in FSU territory - led to Boston College's first touchdown."
