*Florida State’s 24-19 loss to Boston College at home confirms that Bobby Bowden now runs a second-tier college football program. On Saturday Florida State was a poorly coached team that didn’t have enough athletes to overcome its mistakes. The only question that remains is how far the program is going to slide before changes are made by Bowden — or someone else."
Tony Barnhart, ESPN Analyst
"When you lose 7 of 12 and three of those five wins are over Rice, Duke, and Troy, frustration is going to mount. However, the losing is not what has Seminole fans most frustrated right now.
It’s the way the losing is handled by the staff that has the fan base frustrated, which includes the ‘coach speak’ if you will; things like Coach Bowden saying, ‘if you didn't play football, your opinion is not valid’.
The excuses that come out each week, through all of the losing this season, I have yet to hear the coaching staff, with exception to Mickey Andrews, take responsibility for a loss. One of the most popular excuses is that the Noles were just a play away. The coaches use it all the time; the players on the other hand don't buy it."
