    Inside FSU Football

"Expect a power struggle at Florida State at the end of this season, which is dissolving into a humiliating disaster for the Seminoles. Says one significant FSU booster: "There's a mess on the horizon." If FSU continues to struggle and finishes with its second straight five-loss season and third in the past five years, the school administration could force Bobby Bowden to make changes to his staff. Specifically, Bowden may have to fire his son and offensive coordinator, Jeff, as well as quarterbacks coach Daryl Dickey and offensive line coach Mark McHale. The problem: Bowden is fiercely loyal to his assistants and likely will resist. Hence, the mess if the administration is forced to issue an ultimatum. . ."

"FSU center Frady is also perturbed by the criticism of Bobby Bowden, ahead by four victories over Joe Paterno as the all-time winningest coach in major college football. Frady said he witnesses before each game the respect the other coaches have for coach Bowden when they meet at midfield.

"It's amazing. The awe in their eyes when they meet Coach Bowden is indescribable," Frady said. "It's not time for Coach Bowden to retire. He can stay here as long as he wants to and I think that's what's going to happen."

    "Bowl eligible.

That's not something Florida State players usually talk about.

"Not around here," senior tailback Lorenzo Booker said.

At FSU, that's always been automatic. Typically, at this point in the season, the big question is whether FSU will play in a BCS bowl. But here was center John Frady talking to the media Sunday morning without any prodding about the need to win six games so that FSU could reach the postseason."
