What They Are Saying The Day After FSU's Loss to NC State

"Now N.C. State has another big win to celebrate against Amato's former boss.
"It's not really surprising to us," said safety DaJuan Morgan, who intercepted a pass from Drew Weatherford in the final minutes to seal the win. "We came into those games (against Akron and Southern Miss) and we didn't have the right mind-set that we have right now. We just believe that we can be No. 1, ACC champs."
    USA Today

"And now, FSU's season is officially going nowhere. That's what happens when you're 1-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference and your only win is over the team formerly known as Miami.

That's what happens when you again get Coach Chuck Amato off the hot seat and onto the throne. And that's what happens when your offense can't execute football's most basic task."
    David Whitley,Orlando Sentinel

"Now the Seminoles find themselves slipping further down the ACC's Atlantic Division standings, creating a difficult road for them to return to the league championship game."
    Gainesville Sun

"The loss dropped the Seminoles to a new low during their 15 seasons in the Atlantic Coast Conference, marking the first time FSU ever has had a losing conference record (1-2) this late in the season. The only other times FSU had a losing ACC record at any point in a season was in 1998 (0-1 after losing to N.C. State) and in 2004 after losing the season opener to Miami in the Hurricanes' inaugural ACC game. FSU also has two losses this early in a season since 2001."
    Tampa Tribune

"For Bobby Bowden, it was his fourth loss in the past six games to his former assistant, Chuck Amato. Since 2001, Bowden is 5-7 against Amato and Tommy Bowden and 27-4 against the rest of the ACC.

"You never think that you've got them," Bowden said, "but you think you might have them."
    Sun-Sentinel

"But in the end, FSU's failure to score touchdowns twice in the redzone in the first half will be how many disgruntled FSU fans remember the game."
    Pensacola News Journal
