The Noles control their own destiny and today they made one more step toward the top of the ACC as they defeated the Hokies 30-20. The offense by the Noles was anemic until the third quarter when Ponder connected with Taiwan Easterling for a TD. The game resembled a MASH unit as Tech lost two QBs and the Noles lost two running backs. The defense played with intensity led by defensive end Everette Brown. The question mark for next week will be who will be healed and ready to take on the Yellow Jackets next week.

A happy day for us Noles with a hard fought win. I think we saw the youth of our offensive line today limiting what Ponder could do with the passing game, but we still got the win and it is nice to see us pulling ahead in games where we get behind early. I hope we can start showing some intensity and productivity in the first half in the coming weeks. Also, our kickoff return coverage really needs improvement (5 VT returns for 153 yards) as the battle for field position hurt us. Still, the Noles come away with a win and are 6-1 in a conference where parity seems to abound, so I'm really happy overall.
