FSU Sports Information Excerpts:
Injury Update: Senior Darius McClure received the results of the MRI on his left knee Tuesday. The rover tore his cartilage and will start rehab in hopes of returning to the field.
Weather forecasts predict low 30’s and clear skies in Maryland Saturday night and if Tuesday was any indicator Florida State will be ready. The Seminoles practiced for 22 periods in uppers in mid-40 degree weather Tuesday night in Tallahassee. Florida State will face similar circumstances when it plays in its second straight blackout game. Last week it was a home game versus BC. This weekend it will be Maryland’s turn to host a blackout game.
Head Coach Bobby Bowden:
On how Maryland’s offensive line matches Boston College’s:
“We just got to do better techniques. When you play against big people, then you have to use technique. You have to stay lower, have to keep leverage and work your feet and all that stuff. If you don’t you get driven out of there. That happened to us several times the other night (against Boston College). Of course tackles get driven back, linebackers can’t pursue the ball, they get cut off, that happened to us several times the other night. That’s a big thing you’re facing right there.”
CB Patrick Robinson:
On Maryland’s wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey:
“He has good size and he has great speed. He’s one of the fastest players I ever played against. Really his explosiveness off the line of scrimmage. He has an explosive first step. He comes out and breaks pretty well. He’s an all around good receiver. He has great size. When you combine great size and speed, it’s going to be really hard to tackle him. That’s just going to give me an opportunity to show what I got. The type of skills I’ve got and I’m looking forward to it this Saturday.”
