Graham Gano has been named one of three finalists for the Lou Groza Award and will travel to Orlando December 10 for the Home Depot College Football Awards Show. The award is named in honor of one of the all-time great kickers in football history, Lou Groza who played 21 seasons for the Cleveland Browns.
Gano joins Josh Arauco of Arkansas State and Louie Sakoda of Utah in vying for the school’s third Groza. Former Seminole Sebastian Janikowski won the award in 1998 and 1999.
Gano leads the nation in field goals per game and has connected on more 50-yard field goals than any FBS kicker.Gano is 21-for-23 and his only two misses came from 50 yards or better. He is the ACC’s leading scorer despite the fact he missed the first two games of the season due to surgery to repair a torn meniscus.
