The Noles have a tough opponent in Maryland made even tougher since it will be on their home turf. The Terps have won their last seven contests in Chevy Chase Bank Field at Byrd Stadium. Maryland is also in the rankings this week as FSU dropped out. The Terrapins are ranked No. 22 in the AP; No. 23 in the USA Today; and No. 25 in the BCS Poll.
Maryland has won all four of its games vs. ranked foes (AP poll) this season (No. 23 Cal; No. 20 Clemson; No. 21 Wake Forest) and six straight over the last two years (No.8 Boston College and No. 10 Rutgers in 2007). The Terps are the only team in the nation to have knocked off four ranked opponents this year. The six consecutive wins over Top 25 teams is a school record. This is contrasted with their loss to Middle Tennessee State and their narrow victory over Delaware.
We all know about Graham Gano but Maryland also has a pretty good kicking duo. Senior Obi Egekeze and sophomore Travis Baltz are two of the better kickers in the ACC. Egekeze has connected on 14 of his last 16 field-goal attempts, including game-winners vs. NC State and last Saturday's win versus the Tar Heels. Baltz ranks first in the league in punting (42.2 ypp).
