BC Looking For Field Goal Kicker

Boston College head coach Jeff Jagodzinski announced on Sunday that fullback James McCluskey suffered a broken leg against Notre Dame and is done for the season. "We're going to find another guy to take his place," said Jagodzinski.

Field goal kicker Steve Aponavicius missed two of three field goal attempts in the Notre Dame game and Jagodzinski said that the job of field goal kicker is now open for competition. For the season, Aponavicius has attempted 15 field goals and has made 8. His longest field goal has been for 36 yards and he has not attempted a field goal longer than 39 yards. The competition will presumably be between Aponavicius and freshman punter Ryan Quigley who handled the kick off chores.

BC defensive coordinator Frank Spaziani had a great game plan against Notre Dame. The defense not only shut out the Irish 17-0 win but also held Notre Dame to 292 total yards in offense and intercepted Irish QB Jimmy Clausen four times. They allowed the ND running game only 66 yards, with the longest run of 12 yards. In addition. eight of Notre Dame's 14 offensive series were four plays or less with their longest drive lasting 3:17.
